Make & Take Your Own Smudge Stick

Sunday, March 24, 10am-12pm

$50, includes materials

We can all agree - it's been a loooong winter and it's time to crack those windows open and say adios to those stagnant and stale energies that are still lingering. The blossoming energies of the Spring time encourages us to awaken our creativity as we prepare for new growth. This event isn't just a few days past the long awaited Spring Equinox, but also days after March's full moon! This means the cosmos and our sweet Mother Earth are joining forces to offer us all a fresh start.

Join Ginkgo & Sage at Zen Den Yoga Studio on Sunday March 24th from 10am-noon for a make and take smudge stick making event. Learn about smudging- what it is and how it's practiced- learn how to properly execute smudging ceremonies, learn what herbs you should consider around the Full Moon and the Spring Equinox, learn how to harvest and how to prepare the herbs all while creating the perfect clearing stick for YOU.

Cost is $50 and all materials are included. Make and take a smudge stick, smudge bowl, and smudge wand! Please bring a bowl, large shell, or non-plastic vessel (that you don’t mind getting burnt!), crystals, gems, shells, rocks, or anything small of sentimental value to tie onto your smudge wand, a blanket to sit on, and a notebook and pen for notes. Limited space is available; register in advance!

Zen Den Book Club

Sunday, March 24, 1-3:30pm

A $15 cash donation is encouraged!

Our Book Club was such a success last time, that we can’t help but do it again! Our next meeting will be on Sunday, March 24th from 1-3:30 at Zen Den. Just like last time, this is a low key event and cozy socks, comfy pillows, blankets, and loungewear are definitely encouraged! Tea and snacks will be served “potluck” style--bring your favorites to share!

Our book is:

Living the Sutras—A Guide to Yoga Wisdom Beyond the Mat
By Kelly DiNardo & Amy Pearce-Hayden

Wondering if this is for you? This book is a tiny one, but it has a lot of heart! It varies slightly from our previous text in the sense that this is very hands-on. It is non-fiction, and acts as a guide to teach you about the sutras while giving you journaling activities that help you engage deeply with the ancient yogic wisdom.

I see it is a “pre-requisite” read for other books about yoga. This is the ultimate meaning of “yoga off the mat”. By reading and participating in the self-study activities this book encourages you to do, your practice will greatly deepen. If you’ve been wondering about the history/foundation of yoga, you’ll want to jump on this train ASAP! This is the easiest breakdown of the sutras I personally have found.
